Vastech pays $10,000 for advertising violations

Vastech Inc., a supplier of computer parts and accessories, on Wednesday settled a consumer protection lawsuit filed by the Santa Clara County District Attorney.

Sunnyvale-based Vastech paid $10,000 to settle the suit that claimed the company violated state law by failing to pay hundreds of advertised rebates in 2006 and 2007. The DA said a box of unopened rebate requests addressed to Vastech was found in a dumpster, prompting an investigation.

Vastech, which eventually made good on the discarded rebates and has already cut a check for the settlement, admitted no wrongdoing, the DA said.

The judgment was handed down by Santa Clara County Superior Court Judge Neal A. Cabrinha.
